Diana - I could get into all the cultural breakdowns of being raised in a tight knit community of suppressed Catholics, and how those values infected how we were taught in public schools, and how over time I have realized how woefully inadequate my education had been, and how my status as a man with low self-esteem and diagnosed mental issues relating to that has lead to a mixture of crippling awkwardness and internalized anger that has limited my ability to be comfortable with my own body, let alone anyone else’s.

Oh, do let us laugh about it. I am all in favor of being goofy and entertaining and spreading the word and laughing while doing so.

Because the only other option is just to look around and cry. This stuff bothers me a hell of a lot more every since I had a daughter, and realized that one day I’m going to have to tell her that things are the way they are for her because she’s female, and even if she’s really lucky to avoid the big badnesses of that, she’ll still get to enjoy an endless parade of little shit.
